The Parent Puzzle Game - By Dan'l MclLhenny

On a hell bound runaway train

Her memory vanishes fast

We cried, we tired, we reached out

Doubtful tough love eases pain

She caught a hell bound runaway train

So, we agonize through heartache

The kind that mortifies the soul

What caused this wall of discontent?

How it all evolved, is too difficult to solve

For players of the Parent Puzzle Game

We watched our share of Disney

And Mister Rogers Neighborhood

Oh…the meals at our dinner table

Where things always felt so good

Now, we are the bad ones…on the Parent Puzzle Game

Detachment came wicked swiftly

At sixteen she knew it all

She broke her ties, found comfortable lies and

Followed her sweet-talkin’ guy

Leaving us just victims…of the Parent Puzzle Game

On a hell bound runaway train

Her memory vanishes fast

We cried, we tired, we reached out

Doubtful tough love eases pain

When you take a hell bound runaway train

Knowing, never knowing hurts in such unspeakable ways

And forever, lasts forever in confounding white noise haze

But when a distant whistling sounds

Hope rushes in again ~ then rushes out like pounding ocean waves

On a hell bound runaway train

Her memory vanishes fast

We cried, we tired, we reached out

Doubtful tough love eases pain

When you take a hell bound runaway train
